Montana sunset 2

Painting the scene a second time I was much more careful in laying down colour in stages and letting areas dry before working on them again. The second painting better achieves distance, is lighter and more airy. Interested in hearing feedback.

After painting this in watercolour I tried it in acrylic. This was the first time I'd painted in acrylic in months and it took awhile to readjust.

Hot Springs

I did a bit more work on this. I improved the railing to the left of the couple, worked on the profile of the guy (right shoulder) and fluffed up the clouds of steam.

Haymakers

Based on Haymakers by Edward Seago. It was recently sold at Sotherby's and an advert showing the painting appeared in a magazine. I was immediately attracted to the sky which is beautiful in the original. I also realise that the original is more open with extra sky and fields on the left. Click here

The foreground proved difficult to draw as did the hay on the cart.
